Q. Why should I want to join the Invisible College?
A. There are many reasons. Firstly because it provides a unique opportunity in which to study (and contribute) ideas that currently lie outside of the mainstream. The forum provides a safe environment in which to discuss suppressed ideas (e.g. the concept of self-transformation) with others of like mind. Secondly, membership will qualify you for special offers and discounts on books etcetera, the opportunity to attend conferences and to go on guided, mystical tours that are not going to be open to the general public. Above all, what we are building here is a community of like-minded people drawn from all over the globe. As a member of the college, regardless of where you live, be it Texas or Timbuktu, you will be associating with a global community of forward-thinking and esoterically awake people. Through it we hope you will make many new friends, some of them in countries you may never even visit.
Q. Why is there a membership charge? Why isn't it free?
A. There are two reasons for this. First of all, like any endeavour, if the college is to survive and grow it needs an income. The only alternative to charging a membership fee would be to take on advertising, which we don't believe would be appropriate in this context. Secondly, by paying an annual subscription, you are demonstrating commitment: something that is essential if your membership is to have any real meaning. For it is a truism that people do not generally value that which is given them for free. In any case the cost of membership is very low. At present it stands at £10 per annum (roughly the equivalent of $15), which equates to less than 20p (₡30) per week: a sum which even a street beggar could afford if he wanted to.
Q. Is the Invisible College affiliated to a cult or religion?A. Absolutely not! The Invisible College is completely independent of any other group, or organization, be it religious, esoteric, political or anything else. It exists to promote open discussion of what might loosely be termed 'alternative' ideas free from the constraints of political, intellectual or religious dogma.
Q. Does the Invisible College offer qualifications such as degrees?
A. No it doesn't. It is a collegium in the original, Latin sense of a grouping together of people (colleagues) of shared interests. While it is hoped that members will find their association with the college educational, it is not a 'college of education' in the accepted meaning of those words.
Q. I understand that there is to be a regular show called 'The Invisible College' on Edge Media TV (SKY channel 200). How may I see the show if I don't have a SKY subscription or don't live in the UK?
A. DVDs of the show will be for sale both here, on this website, and on the Edge Media website. In time we may develop a streaming or down-load service too so that they can be viewed directly on your computer.
Q. What will be the format of these shows?
A. Initially at least, they will be in the form of lectures. Most of these will be delivered by Adrian Gilbert using slide presentations and they will cover a wide range of interests; everything from star-gates to New Troy. It is intended that at the end of each show there should be a phone-in discussion which can then be continued here on the discussion forum. As things settle down, so it is hoped to include other material, filmed on location and also live discussions with guest speakers.
Q. Will it be possible for members to attend these TV shows in person?
A. Very probably, yes. However this will have to be booked in advance as studio space is very limited. However, as the studios are located near Milton Keynes, personal attendance will not be a practical proposition for most members.
Q. How do we contact you?
A. There is a contact link which you can click for details.
